Objectives

In the context of the Erasmus+ Programme, the following meanings apply to:

  • School Education: includes pre-school, primary and secondary education

  • Pupils: learners in this sector.

More and more School Education institutions include internationalisation objectives in their educational projects; they create activities that are intercultural in nature and that involve structural innovation designed to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

SKILLS

To promote the acquisition of basic student aptitudes and skills that contribute to their personal and professional development, as well as to an active European citizenship.

SCHOOL SUCCESS

To fight against poor school success and issues that cause students to leave school prematurely, supporting teachers and institutions in the development and application of effective strategies.

QUALITY

To improve the quality of education and pre-school education.

DIVERSITY

To raise awareness in students and educational staff to the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity.

INNOVATION

To support teachers, future teachers and school administrators with the aim of promoting high-quality education and dealing with complex classroom realities by adopting innovative practices and tools.

CAREERS

To reinforce the career profile of school education.

Key-Action 1: Mobility

Mobility projects for school education staff training may include the following types of activities abroad:

  • Teaching assignments at a partner school;

  • Participation in structured courses or training events;

  • Job shadowing at a school or at another relevant organisation active in the field of education.

Participants

  • Teaching and non-teaching staff, including school principals, coordinators, etc., who work at sending schools;

  • Academic staff (school inspectors, guidance counsellors, pedagogical and psychological advisors etc.) who participate in developing strategies at sending schools.

Applicants

Public or private pre-schools, primary and secondary schools, institutions for general, professional, vocational and artistic education.

Key-Action 2: Strategic Partnerships

The aim of a transnational strategic partnership is to develop initiatives directed toward one or more areas of education and training.  In general, this involves at least three organisations in three Programme countries, although there are projects that involve only two organisations from a minimum of two Programme countries.  These partnerships allow participating organisations to acquire experience in international cooperation and to strengthen their capabilities and/or achieve tangible, innovative, high-quality results that have a clear impact on an individual and institutional level.

Types of Partnerships

  • Strategic partnership supporting innovation;

  • Strategic partnership supporting exchange of good practices;

  • School exchange partnerships;

  • Strategic partnerships among local and regional authorities.

Participants

Pupils, teachers and non-teaching staff in pre-school, primary and secondary education. Learning, teaching and training activities:

  • Pupils on blended mobility;

  • Pupils of all ages accompanied by school staff on short-term exchanges;

  • Pupils of 14 years or over on long-term study mobility;

  • Teachers on teaching or training assignments;

  • Staff on joint training events.

Applicants

Schools; organisations active in any area of education, training or youth, as well as organisations that conduct transversal activities; responsible bodies for organizing and providing education at a local, regional and national level; any organisation within a Programme country.

In general, strategic partnerships are oriented towards cooperation among organisations that exist within Programme countries.  However, partner country organisations may participate in a strategic partnership as partners (but not as applicants), as long as this participation adds value to the project.
